Mid America Filmmakers presents our annual Winter Screening & Staged Readings on Sunday, March 6 at 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall in the Century Center downtown South Bend. Admission is $5.00 at the door. You may RSVP at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=131350116932992 or just show up!
The event will begin with a staged reading of 6 short scripts written by members of MAF’s screenwriters group. This year’s exercise was to have each script based on a profession and a fairy tale, both which were drawn from a hat by each writer.
After the readings, the audience votes on which one should be made into a short film and the winner receives $100 and must have the film ready to screen in one year. Last year’s winner, “Night of the Living Spuds”, is a Mr. Potato Head zombie film, which will have its world premiere at this year’s event.
Other local short films screening at the event include the trailer for the feature-length horror film “Red Lily”, a student music video “Crushin”, the dark comedy “Getting Ahead”, and the zany kids’ (and adults too!) program “Fresh Fruit Pie.”
