2008 Notre Dame Forum Film Festival
September 19, 2008 Call for Entries
The University of Notre Dame hosts this annual, single day festival
that is devoted to showcasing the best and brightest short films
that engage the topic of the Presidential Forum. The 2008 topic
is ENERGY: Charting a Sustainable Future.
This year’s awards include: ·
A $1400 MacBook with Final Cut Express pre- installed ·
Film screening beginning the 2008 Presidential Forum ·
Dinner with VIP filmmaker guests of the Presidential Forum ·
Film screening on the Notre Dame Homepage · Award presentation
and participation in Q & A following the festival ·
Film screening prior to Forum related films throughout 2008/2009
The 2008 Call for Entries ends on July 15, 2008.
How to Submit Your Film for 2008
Online Registration
We are currently unable to accept submissions online, but please
download the submission form at enlighten.nd.edu
For complete details about submission requirements, see
rules and regulations. Entries must be postmarked by July 15,
2008. Make check payable to the University of Notre Dame or UND,
and mail with DVD and submission form to:

Fees
An entry fee of $10 must accompany each submission form. There
is no entry fee for University of Notre Dame students.
Eligibility
· Films must be 5-15 minutes in length.
· All entries must be submitted for preview on DVD.
· All entries must either be in English, subtitled in
English or silent.
· Submissions must be postmarked by July 15, 2008.
· Entry fee ($10, excluding University of Notre Dame
students) must be included. Make check payable to the University
of Notre Dame.
· Entry forms may be photocopied

· All entries must be sent in prepaid and packed containers.
· Entries must include a complete list of cast, credits
and a self-addressed stamped postcard in order to confirm receipt.
· Each entry must include a three- to four-sentence synopsis
of the work. The synopsis should be a clear and concise description
of the plot and/or premise of the submission and may not exceed
200 words. The description should clearly show relevance to
the theme of the forum.
· Two production stills should be provided. The synopsis
and stills may be used in the festival program and made available
to the media.
· Any press materials (i.e., press kits, press releases,
additional images, etc.) must be submitted to the festival office
at the time of acceptance.
· Submitted videos and materials will not be returned.
· The University of Notre Dame does not assume liability
for damage to entries due to mishandling or poor packaging during
shipping.
· Notification of selected entries will be completed
by August 15, 2008.
· Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
· Regardless of original format, films must be available
in 35mm, HD Cam, DV Cam or DVD format for festival presentation.
· Submit a separate form for each entry.
· The ND Forum Film Festival reserves the right to use
submitted materials for promotional items for the festival.
· The ND Forum Film Festival reserves the right to screen
submitted films that are selected for the festival, keeping
any revenue generated from those screenings.
· The act of submitting a work constitutes acceptance
of the guidelines of the ND Forum Film Festival.
Judging
A screening committee views all works. Films chosen for festival
screening are judged by a panel of judges comprised of University
of Notre Dame alumni, faculty and staff. Awards are presented
at the discretion of the judges, and a committee selected by the
director of the ND Forum Film Festival makes any necessary rulings.
