INDY AWARDS CALL FOR ENTRIES
ATTENTION INDIANA FILMMAKERS!

This Fall, IFS will host a one-night festival celebrating filmmakers from Indiana or films made in Indiana.

SEPTEMBER 27, 2008

Films must be 30 minutes or less in length. Films must be submitted on DVD and will not be returned.
Submitting your film does not guarantee a screening.

Indiana Film Society announces
the official IndyAwards festival lineup for 2008!

The INDY Awards is a one-night film festival celebrating Indiana films & filmmakers. Through this festival, Hoosier audiences get a look at some great films being made in their own backyards and the filmmakers get new and enthusiastic audiences for their films.

IFS is proud to announce the official festival lineup for 2008! Thanks to all the filmmakers for their submissions. We received over double last year's total. The dozen films accepted into the festival include projects filmed from as far away as Prague and British Columbia and as close as Anderson and Greenfield. We feel certain you'll enjoy this year's crop of Hoosier talent.

"Summerdale" music video by STATE
is online NOW!!!

The latest music video from Indianapolis rock-gods STATE called "Summerdale" off their new album 'You Shouldn't Stare' is now online. It is a very intense action based video. Some of the content might be disturbing to some viewers.

Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Announces
2008-2009 eXceL Awards Topic

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance will continue offering college scholarships to Hoosier high school students through its eXceL Awards competition. Creative students with a flair for artistic expression are invited to enter. The competition has been funded and administered by Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance since its inception in 1989. The company has awarded more than $600,000 to students during the life of the competition. <more>

The Indiana Filmmakers Network will host The Screenwriters’ Coffee House. On August 12, Kate Chaplin will conclude a three-part screenwriting series as she plays host to Indiana’s best and most gifted screenwriters gathering together to talk about the craft of screenwriting. <more>

Tornspace Films has rented a table at HorrorHound Weekend (August 29-31).
They are offering a section of their table to other indie filmmakers who are
unable to purchase their own table, but would like to offer their movie(s)

Paramount forced to suspend $450m financing

The credit crunch has hit home in Hollywood after Paramount Pictures, which has released a string of hit movies this year, was forced to suspend plans for a $450m film financing. The studio has been working with Deutsche Bank on financing that would have provided funds for up to 30 films, including possible blockbusters such as the sequel to Transformers and a new version of Star Trek.<more>


Circus Stories: Making Movies & Writing Fiction about Our Indiana Hometown

Two natives of Peru, Indiana will discuss how their circus hometown has inspired their art. The event will take place on Saturday, July 19 from 12-2 PM at The Old Firehouse, across the street from the First Christian Church, 53 W. Main Street, Peru, IN 46970. Following an introduction by Mayor Jim Walker, Cathy Day will read excerpts from her books and Ward Roberts will show clips from his film, Little Big Top, followed by a questions & answer session with the audience. Admission is free and open to the public. <more>


"Keith Parker's Shadow People"
Gets Worldwide Distribution
Indianapolis, In. June 24 2008, Tornspace Films has signed a worldwide distribution deal with Maxim Media International for "Keith Parker's Shadow People". It will be included in a 50 pack of shorts and features called "Catacomb of Creepshows" and will be available at major retailers such as Best Buy, Suncoast Video, etc. this December.<more>


Indianapolis 48 Hour Film Project

It's all over. The fake blood. The real sweat and tears.

All told, 23 teams turned in films this year as part of the Indianapolis 48 Hour Film Project. Nearly double last year's participation! Now the Historic Madame Walker Theater, the most beautiful remnant of Indy's golden age of jazz and cinema, presents all 23 films on the big screen this Wednesday night, June 25th.

12 films will play at 6:30.
11 new films will play at 8:30.

Tickets to each screening are $9 each, and will be available at the Madame Walker box office on the night of the show. Parking is free. Movie concessions and other exciting beverages will be available for purchase in the lobby.

THE 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT RETURNS TO INDIANAPOLIS

INDIANAPOLIS—The 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) announces its 8th annual national filmmaking tour visiting over 50 cities around the world with more than 1000 teams competing to win the title of “Best 48 Hour Film of 2008”. The winner of each city’s competition will compete for a spot in the 48HFP Panasonic HD Filmmaker Showdown—an opportunity to win film equipment from Panasonic and a chance for national distribution. <more>

Leads to Director's First Feature Film

Louisville filmmaker and student Justine Feldt recently held the premiere of her first feature length film, "Winding Road". On April 25th 2008 the film played before an enthusiastic audience at Jefferson Community College in downtown Louisville, Ky. The film's lead actors Sarah Batchelor and Brandyn Cahill were present. <more>

Stop Motion Short Film Wins "Best of Show" at the 2008 eXceL Awards

Fort Wayne Freshmen Seth Boyden & Max Roesler, Bishop Dwenger High School, and Marshall Nill, Canterbury High School took top honors and $4000 in scholarshps at this year's eXceL Awards. The program in it's 19th year is put on by Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance. Awards were give for Writing, 2D Art, 3D Art, Performance Art, Video, and Music. The Indiana Film Society is proud to announce the 16th INDY Awards, a festival celebrating short films made in Indiana by Indiana filmmakers. This festival gives Hoosier audiences a look at the great variety of films being made in their own backyards. In addition, each local filmmaker gains a new and enthusiastic audience for their work.

We welcome submissions by filmmakers (age 18 and above) who are residents or students currently residing in Indiana OR any film that was made in Indiana. In other words, you’re from Indiana or you made your film in Indiana. <more>
